The “Star Power” in the new cast of the Smurfs is
incredible. Hollywood Reporter published this video last week, breaking down
all the different voices of the Smurfs. There is such a range of stars- from singers Meghan Trainor and Demi Lovato, to celebrated actors like Julia Roberts and
Rainn Wilson. The Hollywood reporter video juxtaposes the Smurf clips with
original clips from the actors’ past acting roles and singers’ past hit songs.The
video resonated with me because it showed the wide range of talent in the cast.
Further, it illustrates how animated films are casting star personas as a means
of marketing the film.
