Arnold Schwarzenegger is back in the media. After the president gloated about Arnold's failed attempt to renew viewer interest in the Celebrity Apprentice, it would now appear that Arnold will be getting the last laugh (for now). As Trump's approval ratings continue to drop, Schwarzenegger posted a video on twitter asking Trump, "why don't we switch jobs?". The action star turned politician continues in the video to say "maybe people will sleep comfortably again" if he were to be president. Taking a page out of Trump's tactics to rile his opponents up, it would appear Schwarzenegger's mastery of social media sites like Twitter and snapchat might prove beneficial if the "governator" decides to try his hand again at running for political office in the future.
Scwarzenegger seems to be making a point to challenge and critique Trump as often and publicly as possible, as seen in his latest appearance at USC's National After-School Summit at the Schwarzenegger Institute. In a clip by CNN, Arnold is quoted as saying: "That's not how you make America great, by taking $1.2 billion from the children and robbing them blind," I am reminded of a small quote from Susan Jefford's Hard Bodies, where she says that "action takes more than ability--it takes heart", and Arnold, surprisingly adept at sentimentality, is able to tap into the public's good grace by continuing to establish his persona as a "protector". CNN further reported that Schwarzenegger went so far as to calling the after-school program leaders in attendance "terminators" and warriors. Like his transformation from the hard-bodied man to family man, Arnold continues to fight for the little guy.
